Paper or Electronic Planner?
Recently my Blackberry Storm began acting up on me. My wife and I used a product called GooSync to have our joint family calendar so that we could both add events and have them show up on both of our phones. Sometime after the initial setup, the sync between our Google calendars and our phones just stopped working. Ugghh!!!
Being a busy young professional, I need to keep myself in tune with my schedules for work, home, and play, whatever. That means having access to my schedule at my fingertips is ideal. Well after this point of trying to rectify the issues, I found that items were syncing but just not fully, which prevented us to know what was really on our agenda. After missing a key appointment with my wife (I love you honey), it was time for a change.
Enter in stage left, The Paper Planner. Yeah, I use to have one a long long time ago before I went on a gadget craze, but switched to attempt to make my life easier. Friends, let me tell you, tons of phones later, I am all the wiser for my paper planner. Implemented about a month or so ago now, I have had no problems with the paper planner. As long as I write what needs to get done down and look at it daily, it is there and will not be susceptible to “syncing” issues. Hehe.
I do miss only carrying my phone. My preference for years was to travel light and not have too much on me. Now, I do not mind the paper planner as I have gotten past the need to have technology always hooked to me. Now I am a programmer and saying I do not need technology is astounding, but in this case for me, technology just complicated something that did not need complication.
So what do you all prefer out there? Technology or paper-n-pencil (pen if you’re a pro), which do you prefer? With all of the productivity that technology can do nowadays via Outlook, Google and all the rest, what is your fancy?
